Monday 11th July 11 - Arse end of Bolivia

BOLIVIA | Monday, 11 July 2011 | Views [311]

Our driver and his wife JoseMary bring us further into Bolivia´s weird mars like landscape. we get to this place where the rocks have ll these weird shapes which are formed out of volcanic rock and eroded into crazy shapes. We drive further to get to the Black lake. aparently the alge in these lakes give them the colour and at different altitudes result in different colours, hense blue green back and orange lakes, but that doesnt facinate me as much as the coral that are now fossils ll around the salt plate we are on. The remains of an ancient sea.

In the Necropolis we visit  next we found out that between 1200 and 1450 the Lords of Lipez buried their dead in tomes carves out of the round coral fossil mounds. the remains have stayed preserved very well due to an ancient volcanic eruption thats ash help encase them. aparently this is the only place on earth that has such things and have only opened to public viewing in 2002.

Tonight we stay in a place fully made of salt. The walls. the beds. the cement, the tables and even the floor.it looks amazing and means tomorrow we are onto the salt planes. what a crazy adventure
