    My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

    This is Wendel, one of the owners of the Ski Inn at the Salton Sea. The Salton Sea is a crusted-over abandoned ghost of the glorious resort town it once was, but as soon as you step foot into this hole-in-the-wall bar you feel immediately warm and welcome. Locals convene here every day to check in with each other, trading gossip over beers and bragging about their double-wide mobile homes.
