What a downer day. Firstly, the 19-hour bus ride was shit. No food, drinks, pillow, blanket or anything. And dirty. It was freezing and I didn't get any sleep. Then while I was on my way to saving $45 by catching the local bus instead of a taxi I left my wallet with my visa & passport in it at the Information Centre. Damn it. I'm not loving Brazil right now. Luckly enough the centre knew where I was staying and called up to say they had my stuff. Whew. Well, when it rains it pours. My sandals broke on the way up a steep hill while I was carrying my 20kg pack. It was just flopping around until I finally made it up. Then I just heard about this earthquake. I'm grateful my family are okay. But it does really hit home
Okay... think happy thoughts. I'm staying in the best hostel on the island. Been swimming twice and played hackysack on the beach. Ha and walking around in my bikini. It was raining and there was no need to get changed. Funny thing is I'm wearing full briefs and I feel like a nana. Everyone else has their asses out! I need to get with the programme. Made friends with two boys from B.A and an aussie girl. Everyone here is very friendly. I'm going to the bar soon to get a free drink. Not planning on having a big night. But we bought coke and sprite. Looks like we're gonna rip into the vodka... help...
