The “Iceberg Graveyard” along the Pleneau Peninsula would surely have tormented those who were stranded here with bittersweet visions of home. by: glenndixon Views[375] This monument on Petermann Island is a tribute to three scientists who were swept out to sea on an ice flow in 1982 after seeking refuge in a nearby hut. Each of the men had two doses of morphine in their individual supply kits. “The cruel thing is, it requires three doses per man to do the job.” - Robert K Headland, Expedition Historian. by: glenndixon Views[423] A refuge hut lies dormant on Petermann Island along the Antarctic Peninsula.
