Gina, Joe and Justin's Backpacking Experience

Makarora to Queenstown

Well...What we lost in action yesterday we defiantly made up for today!  The journey started off good with a beautiful and DRY morning which gave us a view of the area we were actually in.  The busy guy was right! It was beautiful (see the picture of the A-Frame hut).  We headed on our big journey to Queenstown hitting some absolutely beautiful landscapes along the way.

Our first stop was "Puzzling World."  It sounds cheesy, but it was quite cool; like a super steroid version of St. Ignace's "mystery spot."  They had a big maze.  The maze was probably a few acres and had bridges and tunnels...it was horrible ;).  The sign said it takes the average person about 1.5 HOURS to figure out, fun eh???  To juice it up a little we played a game where one person was "it" and had to wear the mask from scream (see picture of Joe in maze and picture of bus driver dressed up as a ballerina in barrytown...that mask!)  Anyway, we basically played tag and humiliated the person who was "it," we weren't the only people in the maze... the others were laughing.

This place had lots of other interesting thinks like holograms, an Ames room, and the angular room like the "mystery spot."  One other highlight was this HUGE room filled with faces molded backwards.  The room of plastic faces followed you around the room with their eyes regardless of where you were.  Very cool optical effect.

We moved on to bigger and better things.  What?! You might ask?  BUNGEY JUMPING!  Our next stop was the sight of the worlds first every bungy jump (it was invented here in 82..i think..by another crazy kiwi.  We felt we would be breaking some unspoken code if we didn’t do our first ever bungey jump in the same spot as the first ever bungey jump, come on!  So jump we did!  Purely for reference matter I want to make light of the fact that Gina broke from the platform as graceful as a swan, whereas her partner in crime "Super Joe" ejected in a leg buckled fetal ball of terror, the word graceful was not mentioned.  A good laugh was had by all!!!  The decision was unanimous that Bungey was quite awesome and we would be partaking again.  Our next target is "The NEVIS".  Just for comparison this jump was 37 meters (115 feet ish)........the Nevis is 143 meters (450 feet).  We'll see if we're as tough as we think we are!!!!

Tomorrow we're actually going to take a day off from adrenaline and go for a boat ride around Milford Sound; this is the whole Lord Of The Rings area, so expect about 129038 pictures from both me and Joe.  Hopefully the weather holds up.

-=UPDATE=- Computer problems are hindering the upload of most of the bungey pics.  I'll figure it out another day ;)  more to come on those pics!

The bungey jump was cool. Justin did "forget" to mention his double pump at the start of his jump, so I do agree 1 out of 3 jumps looked good.

Little Joey, you have me worried. I want you to remember the boys (Danny, Sammy, and Benjie) before you do crazy things, and think if they would approve before you do it!!!

Ok, maybe this is Tim pretending to be Mom - but it's still funny :-)

Justin, excellent job here. That sounded like a spot on description of Joe.

Hahaha, I was about to reply to "Mom's" quote before I actually read the whole thing. Funny, I think that is what she would have wrote.
