Gloria is the mother of two children. Her husband, like many men in the area has emigrated to the U.S. Gloria also lived in the US for a brief period. In the end, she didn´t feel gringa or Mexican, and ultimately decided to return to Minitan.

This photo was taken when this group of children returned from school. That day (like many others) the teacher couldn´t come, so they decided to go swimming and cut mangos. I thought those days they learned much more than being in the classroom.

One of the things I remember most about this place is its food. Without using an enormous variety of ingredients, the women manage to create remarkable flavors in their cuisine. The African tradition of porting just about anything on the head makes its way into the kitchen of Divina who has the particular custom of eating directly from a plate precariously balanced upon her head.
