In the middle of the Serengeti, a cheetah jumps on the car in front, scans both sides, and pounces off. It slinks away, ambivalent that it has left us humans in shock.

In the heart of the Ngorogoro Crater, a curious Rothschild giraffe looks up at me the very moment I take the shot. In that moment, a shiver runs down my spine as I realise she is wondering what a strange sort of creature I am.

At the crossroads of Amboselli National Park, I aim to take a photo of the sign and a hyena behind it catches my eye. I adjust the focus just in time to catch it yawning and I am struck by the fleeting and unexpected nature of beauty in a moment where I look a little further than intended.
