Teboho, a young herdsman from the same village as Makalo, is wrapped in the traditional Basotho blanket. He is the eldest grandchild and the family breadwinner. He begins his day leaving his siblings, their grandmother, who is their sole caretaker and the little hut they all share behind.

Makalo, a young herdsman from Semonkong, Lesotho. He began herding when he was 7 years old. Young boys who are trained to become herdsman begin their training around age six instead of attending school in order to support their families. These young boys lose their chance at an education and the socialization of a normal childhood.

Teboho roams with his cattle. Herders spend much of their time alone with their flock. In the highlands of Lesotho, where pastures are more scarce, herders can spend up to six months away from their families wandering with their herd.
