Day 143: Catherine and the bird

NORWAY | Tuesday, 7 June 2016 | Views [286] | Comments [2]

Met Stine and her flat mate Catherine for some fun. They took us on a ferry to a little island just across from the city. We had the whole setup - instant picnic BBQ, beers and bathers but even though it's summer here the water is still cold. Didn't stop some people enjoying a dip. So we're sitting there having a good old chat and hear a "thump!" that came in the direction of Catherine. The sort of sound you might hear if someone gave you an encouraging back slap. And btw before this happened there were birds flying above us. So we thought she'd been shat on. Nope. The birds threw their dead baby at us and it copped her right in the middle of the back! Such a random thing and as you can imagine we were confused and saddened, but also close to tears from laughing so hard at the weird situation. I mean how often does it rain dead baby birds?
