    Upon seeing the cameras, these two young ladies stopped what they were doing and gamely posed. It’s not everyday that strangers come to visit them and it must have been a novel experience for them. Despite the extreme poverty they’re in, these people know how to find joy in the little things. Views[634] A young boy takes a break from working and takes a moment to eat soup. He seemed famished after working for so long that he finished his soup immediately. For most of us, the idea of eating in the middle of a giant mountain of trash might be unthinkable, but he didn’t seem to mind. Views[592] This little girl is named Marilyn. She followed us as we took photos of the area and she keeps on signaling for us to take her picture. It must have been exciting for her to see a lot of photographers coming to visit them. Views[551] These photos were taken in This little boy is one of the residents of the area. We found him walking aimlessly together with some other children who are probably as young as he was. We didn’t know where his parents were. I felt ashamed to be standing there with protective boots to keep my feet dry and clean while he stood there almost naked and barefoot, completely vulnerable to harmful substances. Views[941]
