Prague

Wow we have had amazing weather. It was another stunner of a day. We decided to go on Prague’s ultimate tour, sounds pretty impressive doesn’t it? We thought so. We encouraged 5 others to join us on this tour which started in town walking to different sights, then a boat ride with complimentary drinks down the river followed by a 3 course delicious lunch and tram ride. This sounded awesome. So we get there, we are by far the youngest people there. The tour guide is from Prague and talks in a monotone, to the point where when he tells a joke it goes mostly unnoticed. He talked for far too long about each monument and was very dull. After 15 minutes we were getting restless, but we persevered with the thoughts of a delicious lunch in the forefront of our minds. We walked and stood and listened for a few hours then finally we got on the boat and had our first chance to sit down. We went down the river and back, there really wasn’t much to see from this view. After the boat we walked to the Jewish quarter. Their cemetery is not allowed to be increased in size so when the cemetery gets filled they cover the graves in soil and start again. There are 12 layers of graves at the moment- awesome fact right there. Then we went to this much anticipated restaurant for lunch. It started with vegetable soup, aka Maggie packet vegetable and noodle. Then I got chicken and chips for lunch, this consisted of a plate of chips with a small bit of chicken that was very dry/ but it was alright, I didn’t really expect much. Dessert was a yummy but tiny portion of sponge roll. After the lunch half of our group left for home as they couldn’t take listening to the tour man for any longer. Those of us that stayed on walked to the famous bridge, Charles Bridge, and then got the tram up to Prague Castle where the tour ended. It was a very long day but we got to see everything we needed to. Once we got home I went for a swim in the pool to cool off. It was glorious. Then it was off on our pub-crawl. The first hour was a power hour, free shots, beer and wine, as much as you want for the whole hour. Then we went round the different bars. It ended at a 5 story club which was cool. I liked the oldies floor the best. It was like boogie nights. Prague has a curfew for noise; you can’t make noise after 10pm, another bit of knowledge there. The next morning it felt like I woke up in a sauna. The room gets extremely hot, far worse than being in a tent and the sun comes up at 5am. Why they don’t have fans in the rooms, I’ll never know. I got up and went for a swim to cool off. Then we girls headed into town to do some shopping. It was a hotter day than yesterday. Our feet got so sore from all the walking. Prague is a very beautiful city. It is a little confusing to navigate all the little lanes, but it’s a wonderful place to get lost in. Tomorrow morning we leave for 1 night in Vienna.
