My new home - an exploration of Kiama
I am very fortunate to be living in one of the most amazing places in Australia. Since I have only lived here less than 2 months, I have been happily exploring my new home, camera in hand.
My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Australia | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos
My goal with photography is to make a positive difference to the world. I currently do this by photographing local organisations, both social and environmental, to help promote their fantastic work.
I believe that if we can showcase the good being done by others, then the wider community will get behind the cause. We are encouraging them to be part of the solution. By taking positive action ourselves we can encourage others to do the same, and in the process contribute to a more optimistic and healthy society.
From my childhood I was raised with a social conscience and developed an environmental one. I studied Photojournalism and revel in creating visual documentaries which capture the heart and the imagination. In the last 5 years I have been diagnosed with cancer, relapsed 3 times, had a bone marrow transplant and gone travelling around the world. I have received assistance from many amazing people and organisations and these experiences have strengthened my desire to do good in return.
The opportunity to take part in this scholarship would not only allow me to learn invaluable skills for future assignments, it would help immerse me again into the world of storytelling.
