La granadina
It's the spring semester of my junior year, so I am celebrating with un gran viaje filled with classes (unfortunately) and crazy foreign fun.

I can't believe it has only been a week. I have already done so much! We went to the Catedral and the Capilla Real on Saturday, and the Alhambra again Sunday. You can see the conflicting religions so clearly in the art and architecture here; it's so interesting! The group of us (plus Clem, Stephanie, and Shun) went out Friday and Saturday night, bar hopping around Calle Pedro Antonio; 'twas a great time. We've done so much walking this past week. My poor feet cry quietly to themselves every time I get the chance to sit down. The thing is, every place in the city is within walking distance. I love it, though. It helps so much to learn the city, and it's so cool to glance down some alley and see yet another gorgeous building hidden in the shadows.
On a typical weekday, I wake up, eat breakfast (maybe drop my toast with jelly all over the tablecloth to, you know, mix things up a bit), and meet Stephanie for the 15-minute walk to class. Class currently consists of a 4-hour intensive language study, with a necessary break for café con leche in the middle. After comes lunch, the biggest meal of the day, with my homestay familia at 2:30. We eat about a shopping cart's worth of food each this time of day, so when they have to roll me off the plane come July, now you'll know why! In the afternoon we've been having group walking tours around the city, but now that the frenzied tourist phase is coming to a close, I'll grab a café with a friend or check out some plaza around the city. Yesterday (yes, this is me bragging), I ate tiramisu ice cream in January. How deliciously exciting is that? Dinner is smaller (though still not small) and not til 9:30. Meals are leasurely, all of us sitting around a covered table in the living room, cozing up with the foot heater under the blankets. The TV is always on and we'll sit around chatting and watching shows a while after. Then there's sleep and sweet dreaming. And that's my Spanish life!
