My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Few things are as evocative as a photo. It can unite or polarise, inspire or unnerve. It is a pocket keepsake and an enduring narrative.
My name is Elliot and I am a Melbourne doctor specialising in anaesthesia. I am commencing a Master’s in Public Health focusing on conflict zones and crisis management in developing countries. I have also completed an Arts degree in history and politics, and volunteer with Y-Generation Against Poverty, which aims to alleviate poverty through innovative social enterprise. My passions include travel, hiking and photography.
While I enjoy my work as a doctor, I have always thought that my ideal job would be in photojournalism-a dream combination of photography, history, politics and travel. The pressure to continue in medicine has held me back; the opportunity of learning from Jason and his journey will be the catalyst to realise this change.
To work alongside Jason would be a blessing and an inspiration. I will gain a deeper understanding of my craft and what it takes to work in the field. I hope to realise my own story and learn how to better relay the stories of others, to one day meaningfully contribute to the artform and to the wider community.
