A stroll at the edge of reason

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Pileated gibbons use their long arms to hang and swing from branches and through trees in South East Asia’s forrests over gaps of 9 metres. Similarly to other species gibbons reinforce bonds between individual in the group by social grooming. Their population is nowadays estimated to 32000 individuals in the wild and at risk for extinction over large parts of their habitat range.
