My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Australia | Thursday, January 10, 2013 | 5 photos
Working as a bookkeeper I felt very dissatisfied, but flexible hours allowed me to explore photography. My passion has turned into my obsession; a journey of one hour usually takes me six! Long active days, hunger, exploring, watching and waiting are Debbie O’Keefe’s idea of a good day out, and so much more satisfying than bookkeeping!
Two years ago I set to work building a portfolio, with the intention of having somewhere to display my work. My dream came to fruition in June 2012 after I restored an old heritage building and opened DOK Art Gallery.
Weekends I work voluntarily as an Editorial Photographer for a free fortnightly newspaper. My strengths are nature and landscape, but I really love any photographic challenge. I am very committed, and my photos reflect the dedication I have. In 2012 I purchased a kayak and with trepidation I took my Canon 5D on-board! DOK Kayak Photo Tours will commence in 2013.
My logo is Capture, Admire, Reflect, and I would love to do this in Oman. To leave Australian shores for the first time, and photograph another country alongside Jason Edwards on a National Geographic shoot is something worth dreaming about.
