On Sunday we set out for Galway! I have to say, to date Galway is definatley my favourite spot. (I have no doubt this will change when I hit Austria!) There was just something about the City that really enthralled both me and Kate.
We managed to stay in a fantastic hotel, which was in a superb location, right on the corner of the main street! Kate scored us a great bargain. She really has the knack for heggling. We were originally quoted 120 Euro per night including breakfast. It soon came down to 79 Euro not including breaky. Once we went in though and checked in we managed to get breakfast included!! Bargain.
We headed across to the Spanish Arch and watched some crazy kayakers go through some treachurous water, then wondered up the main streets and across to a little irish pub for lunch. Soups are big on the menu over here, so this has basically been lunch everyday, plus it is cheap and usually tastes pretty good!
We saw Brian off (as he had to head back to work for Monday morning) and it was left to Kate and Dan to rock on in Galway! We found a delicous little restaurant that served really good home made food, in fact it was sooooo good we went back the second night as well! I think it was probably be the best Irish Stew yet - Kate tells me she has never had better!
Monday morning we headed off to Conemarra and to Kylemore Abby. Was a big day of driving, but again the landscapes were great. There are such beatiful little villages along the way and sheep all over the road!
We got back to the hotel in the early afternoon so we decided to hit the shops, as only girls do! We managed to score ourselves some great bargains and spend a little money!!
The jet lag kicked in about here in Galway as well. I have been getting to bed late, yet being wide awake from 3am onwards, as some of you are no doubt aware as you have received text messages from me!!! It is driving me nuts! Tonight i plan on having a few to drink to ensure I get a decent nights sleep! :)
