My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I have been creative since childhood, and although I have pursued a career as a rational scientist, my real nature has never left me in peace. Five years ago, I got my first camera and became enduringly fascinated by the art of photography. It has turned out as a true companion to my passion for adventurous travelling, helping to chronicle and share stories of other people, other cultures and lives.
Until now, I have combined my life’s two directions: science and art. But more and more I feel a desire to follow the way of a professional photographer. Three years ago, I left my country to study in France and discover science for real working in a laboratory. In a year’s time, I will finish my PhD and the time of crucial decision will come. I no longer feel that I am predestined to performing lab experiments, but rather to showing others the world that I see in my eyes through the lens of photography.
To make my final decision, I need to know what it is really like to be a professional photographer. This scholarship is a great opportunity for me to get to know my life’s alternative path.
