My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

On our drive in a 4-wheel-drive Pajero from the falls to our hotel, we are met with 4 young children of the local community walking to their village after having collected water from the falls for their domestic use.

Meet Peter, our tour guide. Peter is an 11 year old boy, who spends his days taking the tourists on a hike from the top of the falls to the bottom. This is their 7 member family's only source of income. In this photo, Peter washes a cap that one of the American tourists dropped on their hike to keep for himself because he tells us that other than the clothes he has on his back, he has 2 other pairs.

As we continue, we met Christopher, who tells us that he often sits on the side of the mud track that lead to the hotels and waits for tourists to 'give him money or a packet of biscuits'. Sometimes, he collects enough to fill his metal pot, which he then goes and shares with his 2 siblings.
