    My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

    This is Sipi Falls, located on the foothills of Mt. Elgon in Western Uganda. Until the recent past, it has remained a pristine, untouched, green paradise. For the last few years, it has become an increasingly popular tourist destination for the expatriate community in Uganda, giving rise to various hotels, tours and tourist activities such as abseiling. As a tourist like me sat in a double-bed room, with a hot shower and a television, it was heartbreaking to see the state of the local community who lived in a village between our hotel and the falls.
