In this land full of Rainbows, I am beginning to believe in Fairies, Orks, Elf's and everything magical.
As Jonny and I drive around the South Island we are amazed at the dramatic landscape. We have seen waterfalls, valleys, glaciers, fiords, icicles, lakes, rivers, volcanoes, forests, the country is full of natural wonders.
There could be snow capped mountains to the front of you, and to the left a green valley, it truly is an amazing beautiful place. Dare I say the most magical place I have seen so far?
Every corner in the south island is a picture postcard and my words cannot describe the overwhelming natural beauty, I'm afraid I can't do it justice in my description.
New Zealand, the south island is how the world looked before man meddled. It is unspoilt and I truly feel as if I have been transported to a magical world.
It doesn't surprise me why films such as Lord of The Rings and The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe were shot here. This could be Narnia!
Speaking of which, it's funny that most Kiwi’s we speak to knows someone who starred as an extra in Lord of the Rings!
I remember back in Cape Town in February, an Angolan chap believed Hobbits were real and resided in good old Blighty! I'm afraid we had to shatter his dream and politely inform him Hobbits don't exist... or do they??
Jonny who is in awe of the place is ready to pack his bags and move out here for good. Come to think of it he is looking more like a Hobbit as each day passes with his big feet and hairy face??
Have I found my Hobbit??
I won’t forget:
Arthers Pass - snow capped mountains, national park
Lake Matheson - stunning views of Mt Tasman & Mt Cook reflected in the water
Franz Josef & Fox Glaciers - Mighty cascades of ice, tumbling down an valley towards the sea
Mt Cook - Highest mountain peak in Australasia
Hamner Springs - Main thermal resort, hot pools, mineral pools, sulphur pools, spa treatments
Otago Peninsula - Only Albatross Colony
