Oh the joys of the great outdoors!
Every crisp morning I have to grab my rucksack packed the night before with clothes for the following day, toiletries and towel and run in the individual showers which are a freezing outside block.
Showering outside in the middle of a camping site in the Aussie countryside is always a big ordeal for me. Being a city girl I am used to certain home comforts and absolutely detest any contact or sight of creepie crawlies.
Whenever I hit the shower/toilet block I have to thoroughly search before entering. If I enter I am always the fastest person to do what I have to do and run out.
No matter how thorough I am with my bugs, snakes and spider searches, I ALWAYS spot something, usually this happens when I am naked under the shower or with my knickers round my ankles on the toilet! In fact I have come to the conclusion that I rarely shower or go to the toilet alone!
I've had showers with large ants crawling down the shower head and into my hair, I've had showers where I’ve kept one eye on the un locked door and the other on the spider above my head, I've had to run under a large Rhinocerous Beatle to get into the shower and run under it again to get out!
I've had to quickly dress myself with geckos running around me, dive from birds and escape from bats!
Going to the toilet and shower is the hardest thing I have to do everyday.
You would think the more I did it the more I would get used to it but it never seems to get any easier for me, which brings me to my final conclusion, no matter how cliché it may sound, you can take the girl out of the city but you can't take the city out of the girl!
