Lima, Peru, day 2

PERU | Monday, 15 November 2010 | Views [185]

Today we had to get up at 6:30! I fell asleep at like 2 though. A solid 4 hour sleep for a huge day of touring Lima. We were up early and was on the tour by 11. We got our personal taxi who waited for us everywhere we went. We also got a personal tour guide who spoke english. He knew everything about Peru. He taught us about the history of Peru. Peru got its name by an accident. A Spaniard approached a Peruvian fisherman and asked him what they called this land. Because of the language barrier, the Peruvian didnt understand, he just kept repeating his name, Peru. I guess Peru, the fisherman, never thought he would become famous, but he did.

Our guide took us aroun to all the most interesting places if Lima. First, we went to the downtown square. There were police in riot gear and AK-47's everywhere, it was awsome! =) I've never felt so safe in my life lol. We saw the catacombs, there was about 1000 skeletons there, another adventure. Then we went to the central market. On my list of things to do, one was to buy a Lacoste shirt from Peru because Lacoste shirts are made here. I got mine for $7 canadian, i guess 93% is a fair price. Yesterday was so much fun, Peru is amazing!
