Istanbul!!! I have always wanted to come to the Middle East and Turkey was a great place to start my adventure. If you enjoy history and beautiful old buildings then I would totally recommend coming to Istanbul. I was told by someone that I had met along my travels that there isn’t much to do here and he was bored…thats just ridiculous! There is so much to do and see here, you could stay for a month and never get bored of the city or the history.
I wandered around so much that I was lost most of the time but that way I saw more than I would have if I had joined up with a tour company. I am not saying that tour companies are bad, they are just not my cup of tea, I like to do my own thing and sometimes that got me into trouble but it is what it is. I was lost for 50% of my time there and I didn’t care, I always found my way to wherever I felt like going on that day. The hotel I stayed at was fabulous, it was a boutique hotel with only 15 rooms, so great, the location was better than I could have ever imagined it would be, The Blue Mosque was right behind me…literally I could see it from my room and almost reach out and touch it.
I am feeling pretty lucky to be able to go see all the countries, well not all of them, but most of the countries I have always wanted to visit, its really making think about things that I have never thought about before and although it may not be all good experiences, everything happens for a reason and just having the opportunity to travel as I am is life changing!
