I do not like long bus journeys. It is a throw back to Bolivia and
the continuous no bathroom break travel. I'm scarred for life and am
anxious about any bus journey now. So when Vanessa showed me the
plan to go from Davos to Bolzano and it had 3 trains connections and
1 bus connection my immediate reaction was no way in the world. A 5
hr journey to get to Italy. I couldn't see why we should not back
track and enter through Lugano. She argued the point and I agreed
that it was probably the best way. Have I lost my sense of
adventure? become too soft? It was the right decision. Still my
mood is reflected by the colour of the weather and it was dark and
raining and I was grumbling and pointing out any possible deficiency
or lack of logic in anything that was not perfect.
Perhaps we are not the best travel couple as Vanessa tends to
aggravate rather than settle me when I am grouchy so the sparks tend
to fly at these times; two strong personalities head butting like
wild goats on a cliff with neither willing to concede space but the
stupidity is that like the goats our local focus keeps us oblivious
to the more pressing danger. For those who do not understand
metaphors - one day the fight may just end our relationship.
Mini epic journey. train - train - bus - train. This is a magic
journey. We travelled through beautiful mountain ranges , through
the Swiss National Park and Stelvio National Park .This is definitely
an area to come back to in the future. The road winds its way over
Stelvio Pass which sits at 2757 m (9045 feet) and is the highest
paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps and the second in the Alps. The
hairpin corners are a sight to behold and definitely not for the faint
of heart. We past through tiny villages were the bus could barely
squeeze through the narrow streets and where many of the houses had
been painted with geometric shaped borders or other patterns and
designs.
Back in italia. Was it so obvious? The ticket counter was at the end
of the train platform to the passenger entry. Yes goodbye logic -
hello italy.
