Hi All,
Still happy birthday Vanessa!
We woke to pitch darkness and it didn't get light until about 930am. When we did look outside we could see that it was snowing so went for a walk into the town centre and found a giant snowman before heading to the information point.
It wasn't long and we had booked ourselves on a husksy sledding trip. We were fitted out with clothing that we didn't need as we were already ready for our Russian trip and 20 minutes later we were out to the husky park and inside the arctic circle. There were plenty of dogs and Vanessa got to hold a husky pup before a quick video and then a 30 min ride with huskies. The huskies were harnessed to the sled and were straining to go when we arrived. Vanessa and I hopped into the sled and our sled driver released the brake and we sped off along the snow covered ground into the forest the onto the frozen lakes. It was quite a bumpy ride and Vanessa felt every one of them but enjoyed the trip. The dogs were travelling at about 15km/h and even faster on the flat and one even demonstrated how to go to the toilet on the run. Very impressive!
Got back to town with fading light and falling snow. Great day out...
Bye,
David and Vanessa
