Quick dot point update.
weather terrible then clears after one day. has been raining for weeks so we are lucky.
stuck on tram trip to end of line. why? wanted to see where it went. Eventually got back.
evening Cruise across harbour. cost 1.40TL each as didnt get off but caught it back again. naughty us. Not really that naughty others did it as well.
chora church. Beautiful byzantine church converted to mosque. Lots of roman mosaics that were not as badly damaged as sophia mosque.
basilica cistern. Large underground water storage area built by romans and has lots of old columns in it. A couple of medusa heads.
Airline ticket changes - africa out and hong kong in.
Syrian visa approved.
cruise up the bosphorus from golden horn to the black sea. stop 3 hrs at castle ruins.
camera woes. stuck in customs need manager to get package out but he will not go.
walk along the old city wall on waterfront to fish markets. Nice.
Sharing dorm with 3 milan italian teens. Nice enough but had to tell them to shut up one night. No problems next nights. Getting grumpy in my old age.
got camera. took manager. 4hrs of bribery and corruption. we paid dearly for the camera. DHL and customs officials are rogues. Postage almost as expensive as camera in end!
Insurance lesson. can not add new camera to replace stolen camera on policy but can get new policy which is expensive as camera. Hmmm.
