Salta

ARGENTINA | Sunday, 16 November 2008 | Views [1004]

Hola All,

Time to leave Buenos aires and check out something else. Easy to get seduced by the city.

Consider this. To get to Salta all we had to do was book the train tickets, book the bus tickets, book the hostel. What can possibly go wrong? ah yes forgot we are in south america. 9am start. subway out to bus terminal. no train booking. internet  to check. book the train tickets online? train webpage doesn´t work properly. ok. book bus online. bus webpage doesn´t work. Fix. Book with a travel agent. No problem. Travel agent only books trains not buses and can´t get the tickets until 1hr later. train booked for sunday.Ok. must book bus for tonight to get there in time. onto subway out to bus terminal. Book the bus. done. bus leaves at 630pm. back to hostel to pickup bags except past checkout so have to pay for another night. 1pm. Have to pickup bags from storage from other hostel. done. not so much pressure as have room. book room on internet. relax a little in the afternoon at the hostel and repack bags. catch subway to bus terminal with bags. Vanessa stays with bags and I go to get the ticket. 430pm. Friday afternoon. busy. busy. subway packed. streets packed. get to travel agent to find that ticket is just printed. no special ticket. off to supermarket for food. onto subway to bus station. done. 530pm.

Caught the bus. cama. lounge chairs.nice. red sun. sunset of dreams leaving buenos aires. lightning at night. whisky on bus at bedtime. 21hrs later arrive in salta. hostel stuffed up the booking. Vanessa is in girls room and I am in mixed for 1 night despite the online internet booking. not happy. maybe tired and grumpy. salta doesn´t seem to me to be a romantic colonial city. it starts to rain...train to the clouds tomorrow.

Haven´t forgotten we are living the dream :-)

Adios,

David & Vanessa
