Hola All,
Ushuaia...hmm...not for us. This is a tourist city in the middle of a beautiful location which is a real pity. Snow capped mountains and the beagle channel.
Ran into Erica who we met at Puerto Natales and again at Torres del paine. She is waiting to head of to antarctica for skiing (ice axe tv).
Went out for tea last night. All you can eat for $42 argentinian peso and we ate and ate. The best part was asking for some lamb from the carvery. Everyone gets a lamb roast size chunk and it tastes good. You can see the meat being cooked all afternoon through the window of the restuarant.
We were blessed with a nice day without wind. Went for a 20km wander out of town to check out some of the mountains. Ended up at a the junction of a river and waterfall for lunch of the fattest sausages. Must eat meat in Argentina.
Think that when visiting this area go to either puerto williams or ushuaia. No cheap antarctic cruises so we are heading out at 5am tomorrow and heading for rio gallegos to hopefully see the large penguin colony.
Having trouble extracting our third night of prepaid accomodation from reception. Maybe that is why Vanessa seems to be avioding going near the counter and making excuses for not getting tokens for the washing machine. Maybe it just her people phobia taking control of her...
Adios,
David & Vanessa
