    A piece of the Berlin Wall was an appropriate place to meet for the communist walking tour. Sections of the wall with really cool graffiti were sold for big bucks all around the world. Views[244] Being the only two people that showed up for the free walking communist tour gave us the chance to ride in a Trabbi. Lots of honks and waves as we drove around town. Views[281] This work of art pays homage to the Trabant which was the most popular car during the communist era and voted the worlds most crappiest car. The Trabant or often referred to as the Trabbi went from 0 to 60 in 21 seconds, was known as a spark plug with a roof, and is an object of playful ridicule. Regardless of all its shortcomings it was used to pick up the Pope when he came to town but the head sticking out of the roof is not the Pope's, it's the artists. Views[331] St. Aleksander Nevski Cathedral can hold 10,000 people. Views[385] One the best parts of the theater was the cherub inside the pediment with the golden penis. Rumor says it was painted by the decorator as an act of revenge to upset the opera house. Views[320]
     
    The Ivan Vazof National Theater was one of the more beautiful buildings in Sofia. Views[275] The ski village town below in the far distance is Bansko and is the most popular one for foreigners.     Danielle climbing Mount Vihren. Views[295] Getting ready to take on Mount Vihren, the tallest peak in the Pirin Mountains and third tallest in the Balkans behind Mount Olympus in Greece then Mount Musala in Bulgaria. Fun fact - the height difference between Musala and Olympus is 4 meters. The Greeks claimed Mount Olympus to be the tallest after they stacked rocks 5 meters high on the peak. Views[367] It looks a little like a penitentiary but the bears are very well cared for and after what they had been subjected to they would never make it in the wild.     Visited the Belista Dancing Bear Park. It's a sanctuary for bears that were subjected to cruel forms of entertainment. Views[228] It's a good thing to know exactly where your going since the trail signs are not always helpful. Views[239] Popovo Ezero (Priest Hat) the largest and deepest in the Pirin Mountains.
