Waitangi Day 08

UNITED KINGDOM | Saturday, 9 February 2008 | Views [457]

Well, who woulda thought waitangi day would get such a big crowd!! massive - 12000 they reckon! Great day. Just so happended to land on robs 30th, yes thats right 30th bday!! Old man. Started off in fulham for brecky at nine, all down hill from there! headed up to circle line, oh those that dont know - waitangi day in london consists of a kiwi pub crawl along the cirlce line of the underground, starting at paddington and ending up in westminster at 4pm for the haka. there are rules like - no holding on in tube, cant use the district line (takes the same route for some of it)... basically you stop at each tube stop, get out of the station and have a drink, apparently you used to go to a pub at each stop, but with 12 000 kiwis there was no chance of getting in anywhere!

So like  i said started in fulham, then headed up to kensington to get ahead of the crowd a little and set off - beauty day, good people, smiles all round. met up with heaps of randoms, some of who i didnt know were even here! managed to lose rob for about an hour, he found me eventually! missed the haka! but did end up at westminster, i think we were only just after the event?! from there headed to a boat(?!) for a drink on the thames, got bored of that so ended up in charing cross at a cool pub, few drinks before i decided to leave the boys to it and headed home. they managed to crawl in just before the sun! great day./night!
