We
are lucky enough to be spending the next two nights in the glamorous
French Riviera! This region is were many celebrities have their
holiday mansions.. So with that in mind we were quite happy when we
pulled up to our new patch of dirt that we would call home for the
next two days... I would be lying if I told you that we are loving
camping, it is getting a little trying at times now.. So we decided
to leave the camp on our first night and headed down to the water and
local fair.. All of the beaches in the French Riviera are covered
with smooth rocks & pebbles.... Let me just say, getting in and
out of the water is not only painful but trying to not look like a
complete spastic is an art that I have not mastered.. It is funny but
really quite embarrassing! Its beautiful but nothing like home!
On
our first morning we headed out to the city of Cannes (pronounced
Can) where we walked the famous red carpeted steps leading to the
home of the Cannes film festival..
We ventured over to the port and
drooled over the hundreds of luxurious super yachts! We felt so poor
and very very envious of the rich as these things were amazing! So to
lift our spirits we headed to the beach for a very refreshing dip in
Cannes Beach (it was freezing).... Sun baking is a must over here,
the locals are so brown and the girls (and old ladies) sun bake
topless... So when the 6 of us rocked up, top covered and white we
didn't quite fit in LOL. After Cannes we took the train to Nice
(pronounced Niece), where the girls and boys separated, the girls and
I headed off to to the fashionable Promenade Des Anglais for retail
therapy (how original!) while the boys explored the old town and
climbed the mountain overlooking the city where they found an amazing
waterfall.
The retail therapy proved successful as I had to find a
little black dress for our evening at the Monte Carlo casino!
