In March 2009, with the support of the Toyota Community Spirit
Artist Travel Award I will be travelling around the world, visiting cities as
diverse as Singapore, Cairo, Barcelona, New York and Wellington. During this
time I will undertake residencies, visit workshops and galleries, and hold a
solo exhibition at Solander Works on Paper Gallery New Zealand.
The main theme of my travels will be an exploration of man
and the city. I will explore different aspects of the
urban environment – day and night, ornate and utilitarian, public and private.
It is an exciting project, and one that promises to open up lots of new
opportunities in places both familiar and unknown.
On returning to Australia these ideas will inspire prints,
paintings and drawings for subsequent exhibition in Melbourne and beyond.
