The bull, angered by the condor tied to it’s back, is eventually released and begins to buck around the ring in an attempt to free itself. The condor attempts maintain its balance with its incredible wingspan, often grazing the ground.

The condor, one of the Gods of the Inca Empire trilogy represents Andean culture. Conversely, the bull represents the invading Spaniards. The ceremonial event is steeped in tradition and symbolic especially for indeginous Peruvians.

The bull with the condor tied to its back eventually tires, at which point, the condor is untied and released hours later back into the surrounding mountains. The festivities however continue for the rest of the day, with displays of traditional bullfighting.
