    On my final day at Bohol, I took a short trip to Balicasag Island. What struck me more than the fishes or the turtles was this fisherman doing his daily grind. Surrounded by what we call “paradise,” he instead is struggling to make a living for his family. According to 2013 poll conducted by Holy Name University (HNU) Research Center, about 66 percent of Boholanos are still suffering from poverty this year. The slow-paced, islander culture at Bohol beaches encourages one to get lost and enjoy its simple beauty. I took the advice of these two dogs enjoying a morning swim, and spent my day at Alona beach, Panglao Island in Bohol. by: ctrinidad Views[281] No tourist in his/her right mind would pass on the Tarsier Conservation areas—who would not want to see these small, furry creatures? The Philippine Tarsier (Tarsius syrichta) is one of the most unique animals in the world, what with its unique appearance, lack of ability to walk, and habit of turning 180 degrees to look around. The tarsiers are nocturnal primates in the wild, but it seems as if domestication in such parks has caused their sleep-wake cycle to become disturbed. As this tarsier groggily looked at passing tourists, it seems to have been asking for a little private time. Man has turned Bohol into his paradise at the expense of theirs. by: ctrinidad Views[249] The Chocolate Hills of Bohol welcome any tourist visiting the area. These are the famous hills formed by the uplift of coral deposits combined with rainwater erosion, though the locals have their own share of mythology as to how these were formed—from the debris of feuding giants, to the tears of a heartbroken giantess, even the feces of a giant carabao! During the dry season, the hills swap out their verdant green for chocolate brown—and the hill at the center of this shot caught my attention, as it chose to stand out from the sea of its green brothers and sisters. by: ctrinidad Views[491]
