Mother and daughter from a “regular shaped” balloon crew watch as the special shaped balloon, "Purple People Eater", starts to deflate as the sun sets on the last night of the event. Special shape balloons require a lot more work than regular balloons, so they are interested in watching how it works. Indianola, Iowa.

Crews of families and volunteers start inflating hot air balloons for the night glow that starts after sunset. The man in orange is working the crown line, used to help keep the balloon upright. It can be a real struggle to keep the balloon upright if the winds are too strong. Indianola, Iowa.

After completing the evening competition task, some balloons enjoy a leisurely evening flight. Here “Stellar” is still in a race to beat the setting sun. Flight elevation and landing zone restrictions can make it difficult to find a spot to land. Indianola, Iowa.
