Day 29 - Packaged Brilliance

NEPAL | Wednesday, 12 March 2008 | Views [331] | Comments [1]

Was not in top form this morning - could barely lift myself out of bed! Things didn't get better when I realised how sweaty I was, with no clean clothes or towel - I hadn't picked them up from the laundry! The only good thing was that I had an excuse not to have a cold shower. Walking down the street I was plagued by the feeling I smelt really bad, but I was too tired to care.

I called work to tell them I couldn't come today as I was feeling sick/tired/smelly, this being the third time now! I retreated to my room and did a bit of spring cleaning, which involved shoving things into the corner or bags. Was amazed by how much stuff I had accumulated, even though I was yet to buy any souvenirs! The hot afternoon shower was a blessing, but I was still very wary in venturing out too far from the guest house.

I felt even sicker when I saw the kitchen of a restaurant I had been frequenting. They had left the door open, so I had a full view of all the meal preparations. I had always known about the poor hygiene standards, but until now I could at least be in denial. My desire to eat out was lost, instead I feasted on a mars bar and sprite - packaged saviours! It is a brilliant feeling to know that you won't get hospitalised from eating.

Spring cleaning - even the Esky never had that! I made your bed today for when you come home. Yes, clean sheets in December.
