I am feeling sick at the moment, all because of what i ate. Not that I have diarrhea or a fever, just ate too many Gulab Jamins! they tasted so damn good i over gorged on them and am suffering now. Was worth it.
Today I got a lift back to Thamel on a staffies motorbike. It wasn't the most opportune moment to break in my passenger skills as it had started to rain, my driver was nuts and had a helmet (i didnt), there was heaps of traffic and blackouts effect the few traffic lights in Kathmandu. Needless to say i held on pretty tight. There were several times when i had to shift to the side to avoid knocking over people, cyclists or be impaled by a cow horn. Clantey was rushing through the streets, gunning over speed bumps. I had the feeling that he was being nice to me as well!
The owner of a hotel recommended a restaurant to me this morning when he visited AmaDablam Adventures. I was a bit wary at first, but it is a pretty ideal restaurant - cheap, tasty and heaps of variety. Had some buffalo roganjosh that was good, and the sickening Gulab Jamins for dessert.
I dont seem to be writing much about cultural aspects other than the food, but to me it is the best part to write about at the moment as I am savouring the taste and cheapness of it all. Plus i just want to make all you people back in aus jealous about having to pay 8 bucks for a maccas meal, when i can go out to a restaurant for under 2 bucks!
