I'm getting pretty damn sick of power shortages. They are always happening at the most inconvenient times; the first three hours after i get up and the three hours before bed. Meaning showers are harder in the dark (bad enough having them cold) and no nightly movies. I am really roughing it here!
The hotel guys (there are 3 or 4 that sit in the lobby all day) had a hair straightener and were getting pretty big kicks out of using it, despite already having straight hair.
Nepali's love their tea - at work today (i shouldnt call it work) we (the staff) got served 6 times! It kept me going through the long task of typing up a guide booklet for clients. The booklet isn't big but I had to stop every paragraph for grammar corrections and updates - some of the exchange rates were over 3 years old.
I had dinner at a classical looking restaurant that turned out to be a bit pricey. 7 bucks for two dishes and a fanta! The beer during powerouts is always warm, so I had a complimentary shot of rice vodka instead. Despite the price and lack of beer, it was one of the best meals yet. Satisfied, I headed out for a Nepali Ice beer to occupy the power shortage. It was a bit warm, but nothing tastes cheap or nasty compared to the rice vodka.
Nepalis musn't like the roads - they are always spitting on them! I couldn't help but crack up laughing when a little school girl gollied on the pavement. No wonder disease spreads so fast here.
