Most of the families of Colchani lives from the extraction and sell of salt. This activity is the only one in this town.

This cementhery of trains belongs to the XIXth century, when the wagons used to transport all the silver extracted from the mines of Pocaluyo to the main cities of Bolivia.

People in Colchani including children are always involved in the salt processing. Families extract salt from tha salar and then they sell it in the cities.
