In an effort to 'appease the Gods',  locals sell bunches of flowers to tourists atop the still-steaming, active volcanic rim of Mt. Bromo.  As the legend goes, throwing the flowers into the volcano acts as a sacrifice and keeps the volcano from erupting again.
