We've been in ShangHai for three nights now and it's probably the coolest big city we've visited, thus far. There' a lot to see and do here. We went to a really neat temple called, "The Jade Buddha Temple". I didn't get to see the bronze Thousand Arms Buddha, but we saw a white one. eh...lots of pushy old Chinese people, but what else is new. We're slowly starting to fit in, especially Mel who yells at the bicyclists and motorists that nearly run over you when it's your turn to go. She stopped in the middle of them all and raised her hand up like she was somebody important and they all slammed on their brakes. I got a good laugh out of it.
The Bund was anti-climatic. Everywhere we go there's always construction and it's just a buzzkill! Last night we saw an acrobatic show, which was a highlight of the evening. Then I went back to the hostel and tried some acrobatics of my own. Now I have a broken neck 'cause Mel missed the catch so we're coming home. Tiff you got your wish. They're was a girl in the show that looked like you and now we want to see you balance some glasses and candles on your forehead, then climb a ladder. Get to practicing, Tiff. (Keio can bring them to you)
Today we went to the Yu Yuan Gardens and the Bazaar. How Bazaar. How Bazaar. Except we didn't go to the gardens 'cause it cost too much for Mel. Instead, she learned how to bargain with the street vendors. Pretty neat place. We finally got up the courage to try something at one of the food stalls...it looked like spring rolls, but as soon as you bit into it it tasted like garbage. What a bummer! Better luck next time. Mel got some pretty tasty noodles last night, though. She heated 'em up before she ate it. And it was only .40 cents so HA!
We thought we found a Taco Bell, but of course they were doing construction. Well, now we're off to the train station. Next halt: Suzhou (pronounced SueJoe). Smell you later, homefries!
Go Titans! and BAMA kicked some ass! (for you dad) :)
