My Scholarship entry - May Day Aftermath

Turkey | Friday, June 28, 2013 | 5 photos

Dedication and perseverance are two of the most important traits that an aspiring travel photographer needs to possess. Those thrown in with the right mentoring opportunity, and quite a bit of luck, open the career door a crack. I have dedication in spades. I have stood in the middle of a snow and hail storm in Lhasa, Tibet in order to snap photographs of the weather raging across the towering mountains. My perseverance is a trait that I have stubbornly clung onto as I apply year after year to various scholarship opportunities and still hold out hope that something will come through. I'm crossing my fingers for luck, and hopefully the potential for talent will show through in my photo set.

Having begun traveling at the age of three months, hopping on a plane is second nature to me. I welcome physical challenges and have trekked around the Himalayas. Even though I just arrived back in the US after living in the south of Turkey for a year, I am already getting the travel itch and would love to flex my photography muscles in Greenland.
