Ciaran and Ruth's Worldwide Adventures

OZ to NZ

NEW ZEALAND | Sunday, 5 August 2007 | Views [482]

One more early morning, one more flight. This one a short 2.5 hour hop across the Tasman Sea to the land of the Long White Cloud. They call New Zealand the Ireland of the south, and to be quite honest the clouds and mist are reminiscent of home, as is the lush green landscape visible from the air. Auckland, where we're staying for a few nights seems like most other cities - we think we'll need to travel further afield to experience the real magic of this country.

By the way, the picture above is of Jean Batten, apparently New Zealand's most famous aviatrix, which, if it's good enough to earn her posthumous recognition with a status at Auckland Airport, then dammit, it's good enough to for our blog.
