My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am an undergraduate geography student. I chose geography because of its wide ranging topics. Geography helps you unravel the mysteries of both the natural world and the world people forge for themselves, societies. I still enjoy watching BBC documentaries and surprised when I still see things that make me realise there is still adventure to be had in this world, still exploring to be done. I spent a year on exchange in Canada as part of my studies and had some incredible adventures. Despite a year of exploring and living in a new country I was happy to be back in Edinburgh. I have lived here since I started my degree and the city still manages to charm me. I appreciate that where you live has the potential to be as interesting as a foreign culture but perhaps that is because I am lucky enough to live in such a beautiful and interesting city. I enjoy exploring and trying to understand the world and I think photography gives you the chance to tell people what you see. A photo allows you to tell someone else what you see of a place or an event, sharing an experience. This competition is an opportunity to learn how to eloquently 'tell' through a photo.
