    Just inside the walls of the city, not much past the harbor, seagulls fill the air, every dimension of it. The population of gulls surely thrive on the left overs of the fishing boats and no doubt benefit from the tourists who eat their freshly barbecued fish by the sea front. by: christineer Views[164] A group of men fix their fishing nets on the harbour. In the background the small blue boats are outnumbered by the larger commercial trawlers. It’s clear that this town is heavily reliant on the livelihood provided by the sea despite the fact tourists flock to this town which is famous for its wind and kite surfing opportunities. by: christineer Views[242] Just up the jetty from the crab fisher was a man sorting his belongings into crates. What interests me most about this image is not the man but the animals. A dog and a cat were having a stand-off while two other cats watch on from relative safety among the boxes. by: christineer Views[182] This man was bagging his catch of crabs into thin plastic bags. Most of the crabs were very much still alive. The crab seen in the unattended bag was trying to make its escape while its captor loaded the remaining catch. by: christineer Views[233] The harbor in Essaouira is home to row after row of uniform blue boats. The man tending his boat is hemmed in by the boats of his fellows. This makes me wonder how, when the time comes, he is able to get out to open water. An system of co-operation must be in place for this daily endeavor. by: christineer Views[232]
