Well my last week in Mexico was quite uneventful as we had all spent a lot of money in Chiapas and couldn't really afford to do a lot.. However i did manage on a few occasions to brave the unstructured bus system and make my way to the shopping mall and see a movie and do some shopping..
I also made my way to the Mexico Anthropology Meuseum.. This was very cool and i have a few photos from the meuseum in the gallery.. It was quite cool to see the Mayan exhibition where they had some displays which detailed some of the the Temples that we had seen down in Chiapas.. It also had a reconstruction of the inside of one of the Temples in Palenque which was the tomb of Pakal the Great who pretty much began the Construction on the Temples..
We also went out on Saturday night to a trendy bar where we were seated on a huge round cushion and all sat on it facing the middle where there was a tray that we put our beers and stuff on.. It was definately something different.. And then after that for something else different (normal if you live in Mexico tho!) we went and got some Taco's from a van that on Friday and Saturday nights parks itself in the city, opens its boot, pulls out the barbeque and sells tacos.. And they were pretty damn good aswell! They seemed to be very popular with a lot of people!
Every night in my last week in Mexico there were thunderstorms... It was crazy.. Pretty much like clockwork at around 6pm the clouds would roll in and a thunderstorm would begin... On my last day there Tueday the 31st, there was a really really big thunderstorm and i was stuck out in my room because i was too scared to go out of the room to get to the house...
So anyway, I made my way to chicago eary (very early) on Wednesday morning and im staying with Libby who my sister, Kel, was the nanny for her boys Connor and Chase.. She has been very welcoming and i feel very lucky to have been able to stay with people that have been so kind as to let me stay with them on my trip :) It's been such a great and possibly rare experience to be able to see what its like to live in other countries rather than spend my time in backpackers hostels where you are surrounded by other tourists rather than locals. It's been great so far!
So Lollapalooza starts tommorrow for all you music enthusists out there and i am quite excited!!! In 24 hours i will be seeing "Color Revolt" a kinda crazy band that i have taken quite a liking to after learning about them through the lollapalooza website.. Also, i think a cool band called "A Take on Franklin" may be playing.. It's just a rumour so don't take my word for it but im hoping to see those rock genius' play on the main stage.. I'd guess that they will probably be playing after Pearl Jam on the final day because Pearl Jam really are small time compared to them.. We'll see though i guess!
Will keep you updated on Lollapalooza!
