the famous view of the treasury

the famous view of the treasury

WOW!!!! i can't really think of any other way of describing a place i have wanted to visit ever since i first heard of it and saw pictures years ago!!

driven at a manic speed from wadi rum to petra by a shiek (maybe) we arrived at the petra moon hotel run by a dutch lady and her fleet of philipeno housekeepers...yes, a little odd!

Bought our tickets making up different hotel names so we weren't forced to ride horses by the infamous 'horse mafia', theres also a 'donkey mafia' too....go figure! hahah!

The walk down the canyon (Sik) to Petra was stunning in itself with carvings for the 360 icons the Nabitians worshipped, one for each day or their year. Our guide was very good at giving us suprises and we were all looking the other way before we were stopped in our tracks by the famous view of the Petra Treasury viewed through the canyon.....stunning!

The tombs and temples carved into the rock faces are stunning especially with the marbled sandstone in 50 different colours and layers. The views over Petra and the surrounding mountains from the monestry and high place of sacrifice (complete with blood collection basin!) were awesome (yes, awesome!) I can't wait to put my photos on for you to see it too!!!
