Devon...

Tomorrow Al and I are driving down to Axminster in Devon to live in a caravan for a week while we look for a flat. Al starts his new job as Sous Chef at the Fairwater Hotel on the 1st April. I have a job interview on Friday so fingers crossed for that. We are doing some serious budgeting to start a flat from scratch. At the moment the question is 'do we really need a (couch/table/tv) straight away?'

We are looking forward to moving down. We will be about 5 miles (8km) from the sea which we both enjoy, and there is plenty of beautiful englsh countryside to walk and explore. Cornwall nearby and Al has 2 days off a week, LUXUARY!!

Hi everyone! Well, we had a great time in NZ, I think Al enjoyed it...he's hard to read! He now owns 4 pairs of shorts and some sandles! Anyway, I enjoyed it and as always it was hard to leave, esp when it was 32 degrees and sunny at the airport...and 4 degrees and cloudy now! Theres lots more pics to look at too if you want! Now we are looking for jobs then a flat....watch this space!

We have been very lucky to enjoy 2 weeks of calm and warm days...a real treat after the terrible summer! But alas the winds are back, so much that Robert's (the owner of Star Castle) fishing boat 'Gallos' broke her moorings and a cute but teeny seal pup washed up on the beach and was taken to the seal sanctuary in Cornwall...the Scilly Seal! Only 4 weeks to go!!

The Summer season is coming to an end

Winding down

Well, The sun has gone, the hills are copper coloured and the Disco is only on Friday and Saturday nights....yes, the season is winding down on Scilly.

Its been a rubbish summer, theres no other way of looking at it, mostly rain or mist or wind or a combo of these with the odd day off sunshine thrown in to taunt us all! Luckily one or two of these sunny days were on our day off so we were able to enjoy the off islands.

I have put on some photos of Samson which was abandoned in the 1850's when the wells dried up (the inhabitants were living off potatoes and limpets!) A lovely island though!

But now there are 49 days to go! Happy memories in a beautiful place but it is time to move on to the next adventure and chapter.....yikes!!

They have been and gone and apart from the odd rainy day they enjoyed it!! It was so nice to have mum and dad over to see the beauty of the isles of scilly and to show them where I work and my favourite places and to meet Al of course!! the first full day we spent on St marys dodging the rain, and yes, you could have fit 4 people in the phone box! A sunny day on tresco and bryher allowed us to enjoy the Abbey Gardens, rather like sitting in a park in NZ all the trees and plants were so familiar! Royce really enjoyed meeting Richard Pearce in his studio on Bryher and the beautiful ruggardness of this tiny island. I was back at work on thursday so was unable to join them on my favourite island of St Martins on the most beautiful day we've had in the last 2 weeks!! Ah well!

They've gone now leaving me a bit homesick so i've thrown myself headlong into planning a holiday then trip through South America....bring on October!!!!

Glorious sunshine, blue skies and aqua seas. Fluffy clouds flying across the sky casting dark purple patches acorss the bay. lunches have become busier and the oldies are flocking to Scilly....often heard saying, in creaky voices leaning on canes, they have 'been coming here for 20 years'. The Puffins are moving on, and the seagulls are getting cheekier....yes, summer has come to Scilly.

Well,I am back on scilly.....gotta love it when you fly over 'lands end' and keep going!!! its fab to be back and see Al again. we have the same days off so are enjoying getting to know each other again with lots of lunches and walks around st marys. he has a crab pt so we've been trying to find likely spots for this too.....good fun! The weather has been pretty good, lots of sun with a bit of fog and rain for good measure. Mum and dad are coming to visit next month and i can't wait to show them around this beautiful place! I am assistant manager in the conservatory restaurant and am the challenge....and the 'battle of the birds' who come in to eat the grapes and poo on the tables...grrr

after several dumps we now have a fresh lot of 1.5m of snow with a top up of 10-20cm everyday! Yesterday was day off so after much discussion, blue prints and digging drew and justin set us up for party in the park. a couple of kickers, a half pipe and a rail and some awesome park art. mike opened the park, cutting the ribbon, and the mayhem began! some old school tricks from dan, big air from julian, technical drew and justin was just plain crazy....the winner of the day was 'danger dave' from topaz with his half a back flip on skis.....we still can't believe no one videoed it!! much fun had by everyone....infact it's now thursday and snowing (again) and the boyz are all out there again!

well, royce and trudi have been here for the last 2 weeks and as far as i know had a great time! it has been so cool to see them over here and let them have a taster of life in la plagne! we've had some beautiful days and some crappy days resulting in 50cm of new snow so no complaining!!!

its hard to believe that we only have 4 weeks of guests left!!
