The Pyrinees

Château de Termes - The castle was built on a cliff surrounded on three sides by ravines. Before the erection of the castle a village had been present on the same site but the village and the villagers were relocated to the valley below, where it still remains today. During the Cathar Wars the castle was held by Ramon de Termes, but fell to Simon de Montfort after a four month siege lasting August until November 1210.
